"Payment will be send only if reviews isn't deleted." Huu?

A wanna-be copycat online reputation management company seeks to pay for reviews that are *not* deleted. Clearly this Yelp reputation management outfit is a new one that barely grasps the objective of pay-for-performance Yelp help. I doubt these guys are even in Sherman Oaks, CA.

You only get one shot at a review removal folks -- do you want to risk it on offshore service providers who are only one proxy IP address away from being caught by Yelp?

Will There Ever Be A Technology That Can Stop Fake Reviews?

G2 Crowd
is working on technology to get around the fake review problem of fake reviews. One of its methods is using LinkedIn to authenticate users. Another is to deploy the use of screenshot technology to ensure that reviewers are real.

Will these types of tech solutions be able to stop fake reviews?

Free Speech, ORM & Web Spam

Of course a person is free to speak they're mind anywhere they want online -- just as Online Reputation Mangers (ORMs) are equally free to suppress libelous statements until the law catches up with the times or a lawyer finishes his anti-defamation job.

Competitor Attacks: A New Approach

A person in need of help states, "We have a few competitors that have worked to fake questions in forums and then respond with bad reviews...for example: Has anyone ever use this company, then reply saying oh they were bad..."

Forum attacks are not difficult to suppress provided that mistakes are not made by the reputation manager hired to assist.

Cheating The System: A Word of Caution

“You can wipe out your opponents. But if you do it unjustly you become eligible for being wiped out yourself.”

No truer words were ever spoken. Yelp, for example, will post a little notice on your profile page if you're ever caught gaming their system by paying for reviews. Such a notice can wipe you out.

Yelp & Small Business,The Lifeblood of Our National Economy

Anne Phillps made a poignant statement in the Huffington Post that summarizes why I do the work I do:

"Small businesses are the lifeblood of the economy and provide most of the jobs, so if they go under because of misleading Yelp reviews isn't the overall economy the one that ultimately suffers? I just wonder how many folks might be working today if those businesses were still around."

Economics: Is Yelp Enabling The Destruction of America, Our Economy -And- Free Enterprise?

If you've been following the news you may have heard that Yelp has joined the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), which is an increasingly controversial organization in Washington, DC. Yelpers are up in arms about Yelp's public support of the organization. Since the news about the union between Yelp and ALEC broke earlier today, as of 5:06 PM, Elite and non-Elite Yelpers have written 2280 bad reviews on ALEC's Yelp Business Page.
